Degaussing, the
reason we do not recommend it.
Why take a chance on a
result you can not see?
Degaussing when carried out correctly
does remove all traces of data beyond recovery.
However what if the hard drive is not left on the degausser for long enough or the degausser is
faulty? There is no way to tell the data has been
destroyed unless each and every hard drive is then
tested and data recovery software is then run.
Hard drive destruction totally removes any doubt
concerning your data security.
What's The Worst That Can
Happen?
Your company information can be made public
knowledge or sold to your competitors, your
customers data can be leaked in the same way.
The publicity from this can be devastating to your
company and in today's security conscious climate
data leakage is not something that is forgotten
quickly

What really
happens to your data?
So..you have a certificate
of destruction issued by your 'recycler'. What
exactly does this mean?
While some recyclers are true to there word and carry out the data destruction work there are just as many who do not!
As the BBC revealed in August 2006 computer hard drives supposedly sanitised by one of the U.K.'s largest recyclers surfaced in Nigeria being sold for around £20 having only been given a low level format and making it simple work for the scammers to recover personal and business data from the hard drives.
This situation can be prevented by
having your data destroyed and visually inspecting
the job has been carried out correctly before
releasing the media it was contained on.

How Do I ensure My
Data Is 100% Safe?
The only way to do this is to
physically destroy the hard drives before they leave
your place of business, this way you can see that all
data has been destroyed thus removing the risks
associated with lazy or unscrupulous recyclers or
faulty degaussers.
