UK IT Recycling Ltd teamed up with Red-IT
for a two day computer amnesty in Horsham, Sussex.
The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of the dangers presented
by sensitive information left on old computer hard drives that people no
longer had a use for.
Members of the public were invited to bring their old computers,
screens, keyboards and printers down to the Horsham Matters site at
Tanfield Garage in Horsham to have the data securely destroyed using
some of our powerful data destruction equipment
The event was a great success generating over two Tons of old computer
equipment that could possibly have ended up in landfill or in the hands
of criminals looking for sensitive data.

Here UK IT Recycling engineers
are removing the hard drives from some computers and a laptop
handed in by a lady from Horsham who had put the computers in
her loft when she upgraded as she did not know what to do about
the sensitive data contained on the hard drives.
Any computer equipment that could not be reused was separated
down to its components and recycled into other products like new
computers or food tins. |
